Yes! Our subscription is great for all types of readers because it's completely customized for each subscriber. When you subscribe, you will complete a short survey to let us know your preferences. You will also have the opportunity to provide a link to your Storygraph or Goodreads profile if you'd like.

You can make changes, update your preferences, pause, or cancel your subscription through your online subscription portal or by contacting us. If you are cancelling or pausing your subscription, ensure you do so before your renewal date as we are not able to refund subscriptions once your card has been charged.

We always double-check your purchase history at The Spaniel's Tale Bookstore to ensure that you haven't purchased the book we're choosing for you. We also check your Storygraph or Goodreads profile if you've provided the link. If you do receive a book you'd already purchased elsewhere, you're welcome to exchange your book for another one in-store. Your exchange credit will be equal to the cover price of the book you're exchanging. Exchanges are only possible in-store. If you're not able to return your book in-store, we recommend gifting it to a friend.

Yes! We offer in-store pickup, local delivery, and shipping. In-store pickup is always free. Local delivery is available in our local delivery zone (most of the City of Ottawa, excluding Kanata and Orleans) for $7/month. Eligibility is determined automatically at checkout. If you think you should be eligible but don't see the option, get in touch with us and we'll look into it. Shipping outside of our local delivery zone is available across North America. Within Ontario and Quebec, shipping is $15/month, rest of Canada is $20/month, and the US is $25/month. Delivery and shipping costs are consistent with our standard shipping fees, which were determined by the average cost to ship a package from our shop in Ottawa to addresses in each of these regions.

Yes, our subscriptions make excellent gifts! Purchase a subscription using the name and reading preferences of the gift recipient. During the checkout process, you will have the option of selecting a recipient, start date, and subscription duration by selecting "This is a gift."
